Registration Deadline: Friday, August 8, 2025
Registration may remain open until the end of August unless divisions reach capacity due to too many participants or not enough coaches. In some cases, divisions may close sooner.
As members of Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) and Canada Basketball (CB), all players are required to pay:
ABA Fee: $18
CB Fee: $9
Total: $27 (paid separately during registration)
Important Notes:
This is a one-time annual fee that expires one year from the registration date.
Fees are paid directly to ABA & CB via credit card (two separate transactions) during RAMP registration.
These fees are not included in SBA registration fees.
Your SBA registration is not complete until both your SBA fees and ABA/CB fees are paid.
Returning Players: Register as an existing member in RAMP (do not create a new profile unless you are new to SBA or RAMP).
SBA covers the $27 ABA/CB fee for coaches.
All coaches must:
Be registered in RAMP.
Complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
Complete the online Safe Sport Training course.
Accepted Payment: Credit Card (payment plan/split payment options available).
Funding Programs: KidSport or Jumpstart (ID number required at registration).
No cash or cheques accepted.
If funding is pending, email Darlene Anstice to arrange payment timelines.

(Decided at our AGM this year)
All athletes must go through evaluations/tryouts.
We recommend all athletes attend Steel tryouts first. If they do not make one of the top two teams in their age group, they should then attend community evaluations.
Commitment for Steel and Tier 3 or lower is the same: 1 practice + 1 game per week.
Friend Requests:
We understand that some athletes and parents may hope to be placed on a team with friends. While we do our best to accommodate these requests, we cannot guarantee them.
Friend requests must be one-to-one (e.g., Sally requests Suzie and Suzie requests Sally).
Requests must be made during registration and both players must be in the same age division.
Placement is based primarily on evaluation results, roster needs, and creating balanced teams.
Placement Rules:
All players must be registered before attending evaluations/tryouts.
Players must participate in evaluations/tryouts to be placed on a team.
Steel team rosters are formed first; remaining players are placed on community teams.
Teams are created to be as balanced and competitive as possible within each tier.
Requests for specific coaches or friends will be considered, but not guaranteed.
A division may be marked FULL due to:
Not enough coaches.
EYBA’s team limits for our zone.
Limited gym time.
If your division is full, email Darlene with your child’s date of birth to be placed on a waitlist. If registering late for 13U or 15U Steel tryouts, you may request a password to register.
Previous SBA/RAMP members: Select existing member when registering.
