EYBA A/B division U13 & U15

As the COVID-19 pandemic has put a dent into our current and potentially future basketball plans, SBA is preparing to look forward to the planning next season.  We are working with EYBA in regards to how it looks for us to run an upcoming basketball season.  More information will be posted when it becomes available.

At this time, we are now accepting Head coaching applications for the 2020-2021 season.  If you are interested in coaching one of our elite teams at the U13 or U15 levels that compete in the EYBA's A & B Divisions, please type into the APPLICATION FORM, save the document, then submit/email to the SBA Executive Director, Darlene Anstice.  Normally we would expect your application to be accompanied by your yearly/updated RCMP Vulnerable Sector check; however, front counter service at the Strathcona County's RCMP detachment(s) is not available until further notice.  Once COVID-19 is no longer a threat, you will be instructed to get your VSCs completed.

If you are a Head Coach that would have your own Assistant Coaches lined up, your Assistant Coaches need not apply.  If you are an Assistant Coach that is not connected to a potential Head Coach but wish to assist an A/B team, please do submit a form.  If you are a Co-Coach that has another Co-Coach you want to work with, forms should be submitted by both parties.  ALL Coaches involved in coaching a program in SBA will be required to register on RAMP as well as get a VSC completed.

*NOTE:  The form includes a section to add names of person(s) that you would be planning to coach with.  E.G. If you are applying to Co-Coach, please put the other Co-Coach's name in this section (other Co-Coach should also fill out an application form).  If you want to Head Coach one of these elite teams and work with another Coach regularly, or you want to work with a certain Coach, please enter names in this section.*

The deadline to submit your form is May 31, 2020 with selections being completed and contacted by June 15, 2020.

Thank you for considering a coaching role in our A/B U13/U15 Division.

Please keep healthy & safe!

NOTE FOR PARENT COACHES:  If you become a successful candidate and you are selected to coach one of our A/B teams, unless otherwise notified, we do NOT expect you to coach a team without their own child(ren).  Your own child(ren) would be expected to attend the tryout process; however, they would be put onto your team regardless.

EYBA (Edmonton Youth Basketball Association) 'A' & 'B' Division:  Boys and girls teams for U13 (born in 2008-2009) and U15 (born in 2006-2007) ONLY

There will be tryout sessions to determine 'A' & 'B' division players AND the rest of the teams that will be put together.  These sessions will be held during the 1st week of September (1-2 tryouts per team) and dates will be posted on the website.

Players MUST be registered prior to the tryouts.

Teams play in the EYBA's 'A' & 'B' division; boys games are on Tuesdays while girls games are on Wednesdays.  Games will also be played on some Thursday nights.
Coaches will take a minimum of 10 players with a maximum of 12-13. Teams practice 1.5-2 hours once per week, with possibility of additional practices.

Player commitment is a must!  The 'A' & 'B' division is strongly recommended to those that have basketball listed as their #1 sport. There may be additional tournaments entered at the coaches' discretion with the chance to play in the provincial tournament in March.
Season runs from October to March (time off at Christmas).

**IMPORTANT information regarding A/B Seeding divisions and pre-season tournament/jamboree to seed teams into A/B divisions prior to season click HERE.  **Please be aware that A/B teams out of SBA will be made at the "A" & "B" team tryouts.*  If you do not attend tryouts, you will be slotted on a 'C' team or lower.**  ALL players will receive notification of below tryout and evaluation dates, via email, in late August.

FEES = $TBA  (A $50 fee will be automatically added if registering AFTER July 31st, 2020)

Uniform is purchased including a Jersey only (if a participant wishes they can purchase shorts from the SBA online store that opens in the Fall).  A uniform deposit cheque is NOT required as players keep these jerseys after the season is completed.  'A' and 'B Teams could likely have additional cost of team gear/equipment to be determined by the Coach(es).
Additional costs may be incurred should the team enter into the provincials and/or other tournaments/camps/spring league.

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING AGE/DIVISION**

It is EYBA's policy that NO over-aged players are allowed in any division. Regardless of how close a player may be to a lower division, under any circumstances NO playing down is allowed. However, players may MOVE UP to play with players older than them, but this has to be determined by SBA and division/team availability. Priority will be given to players that are within the exact age group of their registered team/division.

**ACCEPTABLE PAYMENTS = E-Transfers / Credit Card.  Registrations are accepted online only.

Registration will be open until end of September, unless SBA needs to cap its registration membership due to too many participants and/or not enough Coaches. In that case, some divisions may close sooner than others. FOR SBA'S REFUND POLICY, CLICK HERE. **
