It is not recommended that new players join for the first time during the spring season. It's best to join in the fall when teams are set up with more focus on players playing with players with similar skill sets and experience.
With EYBA's spring league, EYBA accepts teams from anywhere, no affiliation is necessary and teams can be set up anyway somebody wants, possibly from a first-come first served basis to a team that hosts tryouts, etc.. In SBA, because the School boards do not want to deal with individual coaches/parents looking to rent gyms without a practice time, SBA is involved to administer teams that wish to enter into the EYBA spring league. So, the EYBA team fee of $1600.00 (EYBA charges) is increased to ensure EYBA entry, practice time and use of equipment are included.

UNDER 17 BOYS AND GIRLS: BORN 2001-2003
NOTE FOR ALL DIVISIONS: PLAYERS CAN PLAY UP AN AGE GROUP (UNDER-AGED) BUT NO OVER-AGED PLAYERS ARE ELIGIBLE IN ANY DIVISION.
POTENTIAL TENTATIVE PLAYING NIGHTS (subject to change pending EYBA gym rentals):

For SBA, it is not the same individual registration process like the winter season. Coaches come forward with an intent to collect individual forms, collect their individual fees, etc., then they pay the SBA fee (EYBA fee per team combined with Sherwood Park practice once a week + uniform charges @ $35 per jersey if needed) and enter the team.
The team is then submitted into the EYBA under their appropriate division. It becomes more difficult for an individual for find a place on a spring team especially without any experience in the current winter season. Most teams are formed from the winter season and they just want to continue to play.
ARE YOU AN INDIVIDUAL LOOKING TO BE PUT ONTO A SPRING TEAM WAIT LIST? *YOU CAN SUBMIT THE BELOW INFORMATION (once February is completed).*
This is not meant to discourage individuals from joining, just that there are no guarantees placement can or will be made. I do however keep a running list of emails with individual player informations. Therefore, if you wanted to be put onto my 2019 spring league list of players, you can email Darlene at sbabasketball@shaw.ca with the following information (NOTE: NO NAMES/EMAIL WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL MARCH, 2019):
ARE YOU A COACH IN NEED OF MORE PLAYERS?
If you are a Coach/Parent looking for players to put a team together and you cannot find enough players within your own team/group, I can connect you with other Coaches/Parents from the division you want to be involved in having a team in. You can advise Darlene at the above email address to enquire about contacting other people to get a team put together.
SBA does NOT run its own spring league and the minimum age for EYBA's spring league is U11. Other divisions in EYBA include U13, U15 & U17.
WHEN IS THE DEADLINE?
EYBA's deadline is March 8th, 2019; however, in order for me to finalize teams into their league, SBA teams MUST have registrations/money in by March 1st, 2019.
AS A COACH, WHEN CAN I SELECT MY PRACTICE TIME?
If you intend to coach a spring league team, please email Darlene to advise so she is aware.
Once a Coach gets a team figured out, he/she will be responsible to fill out the team form and pay the team fees. Once that's done, a practice time can be selected.
If entering a team under SBA, ALL TEAM FORMS can be scanned/emailed to SBA (sbabasketball@shaw.ca), while payment can be made as follows:
REGISTRATION IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL PAYMENT HAS BEEN RECEIVED. SORRY, NO EXCEPTIONS.
NOTE: $400 team fee to SBA includes: 8-10 1.5 hour practice times; use of SBA equipment.
Fees do NOT include: uniforms (should you need to order a jersey, that can be purchased separately for $40 each, no shorts are included).
EYBA LEAGUE SET UP:
EYBA sets up their spring league with as many divisions as they can have depending on how many teams enter. Teams can be turned down if there are too many entered with not enough gym time. Potential tiering of teams is not known until after deadline date. More information will follow once this information is confirmed.
