VOLUNTEER POLICE RECORD CHECKS/VOLUNTEER FORM
It is 100% mandatory that ALL persons involved with our SBA youth (including Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Team Managers if they work with the Kids, Division Coordinators if they work with the Kids) acquire a Police Record Check (PRC).
The PRC is completely free of charge when you submit the letter from SBA. Both Volunteer & PRC forms can be typed in prior to printing.
Deadline for PRC's: For EYBA Coaches - deadline is September 15th. For House League Coaches - deadline is October 15th.
PRC's are only mandatory with positions that include working closely with the children; such as Co-Coach, Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager (if working with youth), Division Coordinator (if working with youth).
The only volunteer position not required to include a PRC with a Volunteer form is that of Casino Worker.
As on the attached PRC letter, the hours of operation at the local RCMP detachment where the checks can be obtained (911 Bison Way, Sherwood Park) are Monday to Friday from 7:30am - 6pm & Saturdays from 9am to 1pm (closed Sundays & Statutory Holidays).
You can expect to fill out two forms at the RCMP office, separate from the SBA Letter of Request and also show the Clerk two (2) pieces of Identification (driver's license, passport, etc.).
We realize that at times there are line-ups at the Detachment but we must be strict about obtaining all proper checks from our Volunteers, so we appreciate your patience and time in completing this process accordingly.
Our usual rebate system for Head Coaches, Co-Coaches & ALL Tykes Coaches will continue for the 2016-17 season. HOWEVER, only those that complete their PRC will be eligible to receive a rebate. For Volunteer Assistant Coaches that don't receive rebates (unless a Head Coach shares a portion of their rebate) and for Volunteer Head/Assistant Coaches that are NOT affiliated with a player by way of a relation (Mother, Father, Uncle, etc.), we MUST have your PRC in place prior to the season.
